As a hiring manager I care about how far someone's commute will be to work. If they live over the mountain from our office they may only be 5 miles away "as the crow flies" but the actual driving distance could be 20 miles.
We like to sort our candidates who apply who would have VERY long commutes and listing the driving distance would be a more accurate metric for us to help in our recruiting process.
